I. Creating Presentations
This page allows you to choose the PowerPoint file you
wish to convert ("source file") and the folder
in which the Flash presentation will be generated ("destination
folder"). Then, one click on the Convert button is
all it takes to create a Flash presentation.
You can also choose to create an executable file if you
want to view and distribute the presentation as a standalone
application (for CD-ROM or DVD distribution, instead of
an Internet audience). Note that an executable presentation
will require neither an Internet browser (such as Internet
Explorer), nor Microsoft PowerPoint. It basically creates
a standalone presentation, playable on any machine with
a Microsoft Windows operating system (the Macromedia Flash
player is still required, for obvious reasons).
(1) Select Source File
Opens an explorer navigation window that lets you select
the PowerPoint document you want to convert.
(2) Select Destination Folder
Opens an explorer tree window that lets you select the
folder where you want the conversion output (Flash) to
be saved.
(3) Select Interface Template
Opens an explorer navigation window that lets you select
the interface template file that you want to use for the
current conversion. This file contains interface settings
(created using the "Customize player interface" screen)
e.g. menu color, background color, presentation title,
default slide duration etc.
(4) Select Interface Language
List of available languages, to be used for the labels
within the converted presentation. Please note that this
is not the application's language (the convertor) but rather
the player's language (the Flash output created by the
convertor).
(5) Create Output Compatible With
Selector for Flash 6 (MX) or Flash 8, the versions of
the Macromedia Flash player to create output compatible
with. Best support is ensured by Flash 8, which provides
better capabilities than the previous version, but you
might need to select Flash 6 (MX) if your target audience
is using that player. Note however that even if you create
output for Flash 8, if your content viewers do not have
Flash or have an older version, they will be prompted to
upgrade, hence the transition should not be a troublesome
process.
(6) Create Executable Presentation
Whether to create output for publishing over the web (HTML
file) or an executable launcher (presentation) for CD-ROM/DVD
distribution (does not run in a browser, and hence, does
not require a browser for running).
(7) Compress Output as ZIP
Use this if you want the output to be automatically packed
into a ZIP archive - handy if you want to e-mail the converted
presentation (e.g. to your webmaster).
(8) Use Author Card
Whether or not to enable the author card feature in the
converted presentation.
(9) Convert
Launches the conversion process.
II. Customizing Player Interface
This page allows you to customize the look of the Flash
conversion output. You can change here the colors used
in the player interface, the presentation title, and tweak
the features available to the viewer. You can also save
all the settings into a template, for reusing it later
with other presentations.

(1) Menu Color
Changes the color used for the presentation player's slide
and controls bar (left and bottom areas of the screen).
Type in a hexadecimal RGB color code (e.g. DDDDDD) or use
the R,G,B sliders to set the color yourself.
(2) Background Color
Changes the color used for the main presentation area
(where the presentation is playing). Type in a hexadecimal
RGB color code (e.g. DDDDDD) or use the R,G,B sliders to
set the color yourself.
(3) Presentation Title
Sets the presentation title, displayed above the list
of slides (upper-left corner of the screen).
(4) Presentation Features
Tweaks the features available to the presentation viewer:
- Enable Player controls - Whether to
display the Pause / Stop / Rewind controls, as well as
the navigation information bar (displaying the playing
status and the percentage advanced within the current
slide). Enabled by default. You might want to disable
this if you do not want the viewer to be able to pause/stop
the navigation.
- Enable Audio controls - Whether to
display the volume change and muting controls. Enabled
by default. You might want to disable this if your presentation
does not use audio.
- Enable Notes - Whether to provide
access to the presentation slide notes converted from
PowerPoint. Enabled by default. You might want to disable
this if your slides do not contain notes, or you don't
want to make them available to the viewer.
- Play automatically - Whether to start
in Play mode, or to have the user need to manually start
playing the presentation. Enabled by default.
- Presentation only - Disabled by default.
Enabling this will turn off the navigation interface
(slides list & navigation bar) altogether, basically
playing the presentation in fullscreen mode.
- Slide duration - Set the standard
slide time for ALL slides in the presentation.
(5) Open Template
Open an interface template previously saved using the "Save
As" feature (see below).
(6) Save As
iMediaCONVERT provides a default player interface that
can be used when converting PowerPoint files to Flash presentations.
You can customize the player interface and then save the
settings as a new template for future use. When you click
the "Save As" button, the interface settings
will be saved into a file that you can later open and re-apply
(using the "Open Template" button, see above).
(7) Apply
Changes you make to the player interface are disregarded
unless you "Apply"
them.
(8) Cancel
Revert to the player interface settings that were active
prior to the changes you made.
(9) Default Settings
You can easily revert to the default player interface
settings (iMediaCONVERT Professional "out of the box")
by clicking this button.
III. Author Card
This page allows you to tweak the settings of the Author
Card feature. The author card is the way of providing the
audience with information about the author (or publisher)
of the presentation.
Multiple author cards can be created. Then, when you convert
a presentation, you can choose the one you want to use.
(1) Name
Author name.
(2) Title
Author title.
(3) Company
Company or institution (e.g. university) with which the
author/publisher is affiliated.
(4) E-mail
Author e-mail address.
(5) Biography
Short biography or other information about the author.
(6) Photo
Photo or logo of the author or the institution represented
by them. JPEG or GIF files are supported. Once selected,
the picture can be detached using the delete button (7).
(8) Open Author Card
Load a previously saved author card.
(9) Save
Saves the changes made in the author card screen (they
are not applied to the presentation unless this button
is used). This prevents accidental changes.
(10) Save As
Save the author card into a file that can later be reused
using the "Open Author Card" button.
(11) Cancel
Cancels the changes made in this screen.
IV. Modify Existing Presentation
This page allows you to modify an existing, previously
converted, presentation. This feature only requires the
converted (Flash) presentation, and not the original PowerPoint
document. PowerPoint is actually not required at all at
this stage.

(1) Select Presentation Folder
Selects the main folder of the presentation.
(2) Presentation Title
Changes the presentation title (the one displayed above
the slides list) here.
(3) Select Template
For applying a different player interface layout (colors,
controls settings).
(4) Slide Properties: Title
Changes an individual slide's title.
(5) Slide Properties: Position
Changes the index of the slide in the list.
(6) Slide Properties: Duration
Changes the length of the slide (seconds). If you want
the slide to pause for a long time (so that the user has
enough time to read it, and then be required to manually
advance to the next slide), you can set this to 9999.
(7) Slide Properties: Notes
Changes the slide notes.
(8) Delete Slide
Removes a slide from the presentation.
(9) Add Flash Slide
Inserts a Flash file from the disk, as a new slide. You
can thus insert files not originally converted using iMediaCONVERT
(e.g. SWF files created using other software, downloaded
from the Internet, etc.)
(10) Presentation Slides
Provides a list with the slides in the current presentation.
To change a slide, select it and then amend its properties
in the "Slide properties" section, by using the
features (4) to (8).
(10) Presentation Slides
Provides a list with the slides in the current presentation.
To change a slide, select it and then amend its properties
in the "Slide properties" section, by using the
features (4) to (8).
(11) Save Presentation
Commits to disk the changes made to the current (loaded)
presentation.
(12) Cancel
Cancels the changes made in this screen.
